Last winter for the first time, the Kittitas County Ministerial Association worked ecumenically to provide shelter for those experiencing homelessness in Ellensburg during our coldest months. First Christian, First Lutheran, and First United Methodist were able to provide a place to stay warm, safe and dry five nights a week from December through March.  In the fall we anticipate the shelter expanding to one or two other churches in town as we seek to more closely walk with those most in need in our community.

This year we have invited the Reverend Cathy Stone to provide training to all of our volunteers as we prepare for the coming winter season. Pastor Stone has worked with the lost and the least for over 10 years in her ministry at FUMC Austin and will be sharing best practices with us.

If you would like to learn more about this opportunity for service please come to this training. Our hope is to have another successful and safe year for the guests and volunteers at the Ellensburg Cold Weather Shelter.

Please email or call 962-9257 with the date you plan to attend so that we can provide the appropriate amount of materials.
