EUMC Financial Update

Brothers and Sisters,

As I follow up with an update on EUMC’s financial health I want to share our Mission and ask for a moment of reflection:

“Believing everyone is of sacred worth, this congregation seeks to live Christ’s message of love by welcoming all, serving others, and working for peace and justice.”

If this is our driving force it is easy to see the many ways our church building, our staff, our members and our programs serve a beacon for many in the Kittitas Valley. Together we have an impact much greater than we might as individuals.

Now…
Money can be a divisive force.
It is the number one conflict in relationships.
Some have money to share and others live day to day.

Within our church we celebrate all members and visitors because of who they are and the gifts they bring. Obviously, we cannot sustain all the great things we do without occasionally focusing on the bottom line.

To sustain our building, staff, programs and services we need just shy of $187,000. In the last two weeks we have seen an additional $8800 in pledges. We currently project that we will receive about $166,000 in income. This is a shortfall of about $17,000. This income comes from various sources and we as a finance team are exploring other avenues to support this church.

So now begs the question… “What can I do?”
-If your financial situation allows you can increase your annual pledge.
-You can help recruit new members. As we grow we fulfill our mission and generally see an increase in giving.
-When planning for the future you can consider gifting a portion of your estate to EUMC.
-If you have great ideas regarding fundraising or business ideas we invite you to share them with members of the finance team.
-Lastly, please keep this church, its members, our community, this nation and the world in your prayers.
I want to close again sharing the mission of this church.

“Believing everyone is of sacred worth, this congregation seeks to live Christ’s message of love by welcoming all, serving others, and working for peace and justice.”

Personally, I believe that we as a church are doing great things and I look forward to the role we will play in the lives of many in the years to come. I am not worried about if we can cover these costs. I have faith, grounded in the relationships with many of you generous folks. I know that we will be fine and that our future is bright.

Thank you all for the many gifts you bring to our church family.
On behalf of the finance team…
Sincerely,
John Mounsey
